In 2022, a few immigrants and Britons living in the USA, UK, and EU were outraged by the government of Bangladesh committing rampant corruption, violations of the human rights of its citizens and democratic regression. ODHIKAR reported that 2,644 people were extrajudicially killed in Bangladesh by law enforcement between 2009 and 2021. Beyond Barriers started as a human rights group to spark hope in South Asia and raise awareness to secure justice.
Although our focus is South Asia, Beyond Barriers is truly global in outlook. We are unaffiliated with any religion, economic interest, or political viewpoint. Any government is open to investigation. No circumstance is hopeless.
We advocate for powerful vested interests to be addressed, as well as defend frontline activists by sharing the inspiring tales of the people we work with. Imagine what we can do if we work together with activists around the world. When will the doors to the prison open again? How many more tormentors can be prosecuted? How many more individuals can access help to secure their human rights?
